overnightRichard stayed awake until 11:30pm to check out the stars given the humidity was supposed to be low. He was not disappointed. The Milky Way was right overhead and managed to get a photo for posterity.

A strong and cooling wind off the sea built up overnight and by the early morning it had whipped up the sand near to Richard and Jude's tent, blowing up under the side flaps and into the tent itself.

Given the wind overnight, we were all up early and on the road just after dawn. Mindful of the road signs warning of marauding camels and suicidal Kangaroos we kept a keen eye on the side of the roads. 3 camels were spotted by Linda but they were at a safe distance.

We crossed into our 4th and final Australian State: Western Australia with still about 2,000 kms until Perth. The clocks went back an hour and a half.

Fuel and refreshment stops at Mandrabilla Roadhouse and at Cocklebiddy were taken, glad to get out of the heat of the day and stretch our legs. Both Roadhouses have dirt forecourts and one had no Unleaded fuel, just truck diesel.

We arrived and checked in at the Caiguna Roadhouse in the early afternoon, local time, having been on the road for about 6 hours and after a few dusty days camping and the heat of the plain we were all ready for showers, drinks and a good feed. No noodles tonight!

The Roadhouse accommodation along the Nullabor is known for being basic and expensive, but fair enough given the remote location, the requirement to generate their own electricity and to desalinate their own water. As such we decided to go for the shared room - 4 beds but we were certainly glad of the facilities and the food did not disappoint either.
