It's almost 12 months to the day when since we all came up with the idea to embark on this adventure and now it's time to depart. Countless hours of planning with frustrating setbacks and plan reworks and moments of excitement for the places we will visit along the way.

I must admit I did not sleep much the night before we departed, my mind was racing, going through everything in my mental lists. Have I missed anything, what am I nervous about, how is the bike going to go?

The Kookaburra chorus started just before sunrise but I was already awake and on my second cup of coffee. We had packed the bikes the previous day so we could get an early start for or 5 hour ride to stay with Lobo and Linda's friends, Steve and Helen, in Moruya, who very kindly offered to put us up at their lovely rural property just outside Moruya.

We filled our water bottles, packed a few remaining items on the bike and suited and booted. With our intercoms switched on we climbed aboard the bikes, kicked back the side stands and set off down the hill on a cool but humid morning. We noticed the additional weight of all or luggage for 7 months on the road with a few wobbles but our confidence quickly grew as we rode through the rush hour Sydney traffic heading south. We thankfully hit the freeway which we stayed on for a couple of hours before peeling off on a country road and down through the tall rainforest trees to Kangaroo Valley where we stopped for lunch at the historic Friendly Inn.

With the heat of the day building we set off south through Nowra and along the coast to Moruya where we received a very warm welcome from Steve and Helen who showed to to our very spacious separate accommodation. Spoilt we were! its not going to be like this on the rest of our Journey. Dave from Sydney joined us and Helen serving up a real feast. What a start to the trip.
